Character Personality: Lance grew up in a mountain town of Blackthorn City. It is home to the ancient Dragon Masters; a clan of people who isolate themselves to train and protect Dragon-type Pokemon. Lance, at a young age, earned the title of Master from the Elder of the Dragon Clan (who happens to be Lance's grandfather). And, at some point, Lance did something absolutely insane that no one else seems to do in Blackthorn -- he left.

This sense of adventure has bolstered him to become one of the strongest Pokemon trainers in the world -- particularly in Kanto and Johto, the two regions that are watched by the Indigo Plateau. Lance is strong-willed, kind, passionate, driven, and seeks adventure. He is also fiercely protective of Pokemon, takes his job very seriously, and has a zero-tolerance policy for any abuses of power, Pokemon, or people underneath his watch.

( THE DRAGON MASTER )

Lance's various professional achievements speak to his talent with raising Pokemon -- and not only Pokemon, but Dragon-types, which are notoriously difficult to raise and train. Lance does so with kindness, patience, and great love for his team. As one of the rare Dragon Masters in the Pokemon world, Lance possesses an unusual talent with Pokemon. His choice of type speaks largely to the type of person that Lance is. Dragon-type Pokemon are notoriously hard to raise, capture, and tame for battle, but Lance, with three Dragonite as his disposal, seems to have mastered the art with a kind hand and a firm discipline. As such, Lance has a patient and determined nature, given his specialty of choice. He is never displayed as cruel to Pokemon, and treats them with great adoration and love.

As such, it goes without saying that Lance is very passionate about Pokemon -- Pokemon are his life's work and journey. And Lance's love for battling them is second-to-none. He takes his profession very seriously, and Lance is at the top of the proverbial mountain for a reason. Defeating Lance takes an extraordinarily amount of skill, power, and love for your Pokemon. . . because he’s definitely not going to roll over and let you win. However, just because Lance is an excellent trainer doesn’t mean he’s cocky – when defeated, he is humble, and even excited, because he’s witnessing the rise of a new Pokemon master. Nothing excites him more than witnessing a trainer’s love for their Pokemon and a new challenge. He’ll never back down from one and relishes the rush that a challenge brings--and even when Lance loses, he is humbled by the opportunity to witness the battle.

( THE CHAMPION )

At Lance's canon-point, Lance has been both the leader of the Elite Four of the Indigo Plateau and Champion. This speaks to Lance's talent with raising Pokemon -- and not only Pokemon, but Dragon-types, which are notoriously difficult to raise and train. Lance does so with kindness, patience, and great love for his team. But most importantly, Lance takes his position seriously. The role of Champion is one that holds a great weight. You are the best that the region has to offer, and it comes with certain responsibilities.

Lance's most recent stint at Champion is due to the fact that the prior Champion, Red, abruptly left his post to train. Instead of leaving the Indigo Plateau without a Champion again, Lance surrendered his post as leader of the Elite Four to step into the role, to ensure that the Indigo Plateau had a guide -- something that was necessary, after the fall of Team Rocket, and the subsequent hunt for Giovanni, their leader.

( THE LEADER )

Lance is exceptionally well known throughout Kanto and Johto (and beyond, quite frankly), but Lance seems to be pretty level-headed about it all. Though he is known as one of the greatest Pokemon trainers in the world, Lance doesn't think himself incapable of learning more, and he eagerly incorporates new talent to guide them along their way. However, while Lance is one of the most famous people through Kanto and Johto, he doesn't allow it to waver his focus from what he believes his position to be: the leader of the Indigo Plateau who is responsible for protecting the people and Pokemon of his selected region from danger.

However patient and disciplined Lance is goes out the window when people – and Pokemon – important to him are injured. While Lance is typically a calm and mild-mannered person, he does lash out when pushed past his limits. Lance has a particular disdain for Team Rocket, a criminal organization that has run rampant through Kanto and Johto during his tenure on the Indigo Plateau. And Lance is quick to act when he sees Pokemon being treated unfairly and uses a ‘no second chances’ methodology in his battle tactics to save the day. He displays this when he discovers Gyarados and Magikarp in the Lake of Rage have been tortured, being forced into evolution by means of science experiments. Lance, instead of challenging a Team Rocket grunt to a proper battle, simply Hyper Beams the man out of the way so he and Ethan can get to the secret base below the shop. In other words, if Pokemon are being injured, you don’t want Lance to find out. His retribution is swift and harsh.

In sum, Lance is someone with a great love and passion for the world around him. He cares deeply about Pokemon, his position as Champion/Leader of the Elite Four, and of ushering in the next generation of leaders in his world. He has a zero tolerance policy for abuse of power, and will not hesitate to unleash his full fury on people he perceives to be harming innocents. He holds a great sense of adventure and travels frequently to both become stronger and to protect the world around him.

Character Abilities: Lance, at heart, is a regular old human being. He has no supernatural abilities or anything that makes him special outside of his ability to train Pokemon. So -- that being said, Lance is a Dragon Master. He has an uncanny ability to understand and train Pokemon -- as showcased by both his team of difficult-to-train dragons, and that he has both been the Leader of the Indigo Plateau and Champion of Johto.

Items: Lance has his Pokemon team on his person. Descriptions of his team can be found here. He has 3 Dragonite, 1 Aerodactyl, 1 Charizard, and 1 Gyarados. Lance also has some Berries on his person (for his Pokemon), 3 Full Restores, and a PokeGear -- which is essentially the Pokemon world's version of a cell phone.

Other: A question for the mods? Would Lance's Pokemon be able to be freed from their Pokeballs upon acceptance to the game, as the Pokeballs are a type of "technology"?

Imprint

Imprint Type: Scenery
Summary: An underground cavernous lake, with a temple-like structure stationed directly in the center of it.
Full Details: The Dragon's Den is a holy structure located within Blackthorn City, in the Johto Region. It is accessible via water and contains a temple-like structure, which serves as a site to honor the Dragon-type Pokemon that live within the mountainside. The water is freezing and the entire area has something of a quiet, solemn vibe to it.

Imprint Type: Species
Summary: A large, koi-like fish with reddish-orange scales and a gaping mouth. It flops about uselessly and seems to be absolutely worthless.
Full Details: Magikarp are large fish that appear wholly pathetic. They are fairly large, flop about uselessly, and don't really do much other than swim about and eat. However, they do have tremendous potential in that they can evolve into a massive dragon-like being capable of great power . . . if you have the patience and wherewithal to train it, first.

Imprint Type: Scenery.
Summary: A casino, full of slot machines and other gambling games. It looks somewhat run-down and dodgy. The machines cause you to earn special-imprinted coins, which you can cash in for a variety of prizes at the counter.
Full Details: The Celadon Game Corner operates as a front for Pokemon trafficking and money-laundering for Team Rocket. It has a ton of slot machines, where you can earn coins to cash in for various prizes -- most of them illegal in nature. You can even turn them in for illegally trafficked Pokemon . . . if you want to have that on your conscience.
